WCAG 2.1 Help Blog
Accessibility statement for website owners: a simple template
An accessibility statement signals intent and gives users a way to request help. This template keeps it short, honest, and maintainable.
What your statement should include
Keep it simple and factual. Avoid claiming perfection. State your goal, the standard you aim for, and how users can contact you.
- Your accessibility commitment
- The standard you aim to follow (commonly WCAG 2.1 AA)
- Known limitations (if any) stated plainly
- A contact method for accessibility requests
- Date of most recent review/update
How to maintain it
Update the statement after major releases, redesigns, or remediation work. The simplest approach is to update the review date and summarize changes.
